One of the most popular items on our menu at our cellar door on Bruny Island, is our Baked Saint. It’s a cheese-lovers dream. We’ve finally managed to put together the perfect kit so you can bake your own Saint at home, and replicate the delicious experience!
Bruny Island Cheese Saint 190g
In the central plateau of France there are a number of cheeses that are all named after the local Saints. Like our Saint, they are all surface ripened, soft oozy cheeses with a light bloom on the rind – not a thick carpet of single strain white mould found on more commercial cheeses. This cheese can be eaten younger, when the inside is still firm and the flavour more delicate, or wait until the curd breaks down completely and the flavour gets more pungent.
Our Honey (from our Glen Huon Farm!) 100g
This honey is something I am extremely proud of, and a lot of effort has gone into it. While our bees have had a rough time of things with challenging weather conditions making foraging for nectar a bit tricky, we were really thrilled to be able to secure a small amount of extra special honey from our hives this year, which are down by our Glen Huon Dairy Farm.
Tasmanian Walnuts (with some seasoning!)30g
We’ve sourced these lovely crushed walnuts from the same supplier who provides them to us for our baked Saints on the island! They add just the right level of crunch and texture to balance out the sweetness of the honey, and the creaminess of the Saint!
Enamelware Falcon white and blue deep pie dish 14cm
These exquisite little dishes are built to last by an English company that’s been creating enamelware since the 1920’s! If you’ve found an old enamelware piece while poking around the kitchen at your grandparents back in the day, you’ll know they only improve with age, and patina. These are oven safe up to 220 degrees. You can also make nifty little hand-pies in them, or use them for dip dishes or warming olives (yummy!)
Tasman Sea Salt Lavosh 150g
We've been looking for a great Lavosh to offer you guys as part of a cheese club for sometime now and this collaboration between Tasman Sea Salt and a local deli in Hobart has provided us with the solution! This is pretty great, all you want in a cheese cracker with just enough of a sprinkling of Tasmanian Sea Salt!
Each Kit will come with thorough instructions – so you can replicate the Bruny Island Cheese Baked Saint experience at home!
