While our Cheesery is based on Bruny Island, its production is serviced by fresh milk from our farm which is based in the beautiful Huon Valley in southern Tasmania. Due to our continued growth and success (winning several awards for our excellent Milk/Cheese) we now need a new Permanent Dairy Assistant to work alongside and support our Farm manager/family in the Huon Valley.
Specifically, you will be responsible for:
Ø Calving and calf rearing and feed allocation
Ø Highest levels of animal husbandry and welfare
Ø Pasture quality/crop management (irrigation/fertilising and pest control)
Ø General farm maintenance (fences/buildings/dairy)
Ø Maintaining organic certification
Ø Maintaining strict Parlour and animal hygiene standards
Ø Maintaining a safe farm workplace with a positive focus on environmental management
Ø You will be required to work autonomously every weekend to relieve the farm manager, doing split shifts to meet milking requirements.
Ø Ability to maintain accurate farm/animal/calving records
Your skills and experience:
Ø Prior experience working on a dairy farm (preferred) and ability to work independently as well as alongside farm manager
Ø Qualifications in business, agriculture or a related field (preferred)
Ø Demonstrated understanding/appreciation of principles/practical applications of animal care/husbandry/welfare and dairy farm operations
Ø Drivers licence and ability to operate all farm machinery (essential)
Ø Full working rights in Australia (no visa restrictions)

BICC are recruiting new dynamic, positive people to join our team at Bruny Island Cheese Co. in the following roles:
Cheesery Production Assistants
One ongoing role/one summer casual role
Our environment is fast paced and energetic and you’ll become part of a small, growing, fun business. You will have a can-do attitude and will be able to work in a small team environment. You will have a passion for great food and particularly a love of great cheese.
Cheese making is a physical role, you will be on your feet all day, turning, maturing & wrapping cheese, lots of washing, as well as assisting in the cheese production process. Please ensure you consider this before applying.
Previous experience in hospitality, food handling/food production or factory work is preferred (not essential), as full training will be provided for the successful applicants.
Cellar Door Assistants
You will be joining a fun, positive, hard-working team of Cellar Door Assistants, so you will bring an energetic and positive attitude, excellent customer service skills, and a sense of pride in your work.
Experience in hospitality is preferred and barista skills would be an added bonus. Your work will involve general café duties, dealing with customers, cellar door tastings, clearing tables, taking orders and general cleaning and wash up. You must hold a RSA Certificate for Cellar Door Roles.
We offer a competitive rate of pay, excellent induction, uniform t-shirts and the opportunity to progress within the business. These roles are approx. 15-30 hours per week over a 7- day cycle, so ability to work weekends is also preferred.
